About this Event
We are launching Rhythm People Recordings with a Saturday night dance floor party at Fidelity Studio, Dublin,on Record Store Day 2026, 18th April (9pm–1am). This club night features label founders, Irish DJs Bazza Ranks (London) and Lex Woo (Dublin), alongside special guests MC Kwasi (Mr. Scruff) and Basil Isaac (Black2Basic) on live percussion. They will perform on Fidelity Studio’s unique Hatchett Sound analogue club system, delivering a night of fresh tropical tunes and signature Rhythm People sounds.
Origins
After years of sharing decks at festivals and parties, Dublin DJs Lex Woo and Bazza Ranks have joined forces to create a label focused on contemporary electronic and live Afro-Latin club sounds. Despite being based in different cities—Bazza in London and Lex in Dublin—the launch of Rhythm People Recordings marks the beginning of a series of label nights planned for Dublin, London, and beyond.
Debut Release
Coinciding with the label launch and Record Store Day, Rhythm People Recordings proudly announces its maiden digital release from emerging producer Barrio B. Following a successful debut earlier this month on Spanish label Aftroterraneo—which garnered support from industry heavyweights including Laurent Garnier, Jamie Jones, Colleen Murphy, Kiko Navarro, and DJ Deb Grant on BBC Radio 6—the track "Boomah" features a striking vocal hook from the 1970s African funk track "Kourougninda Wendé." Enhanced by Afro-styled horns and a driving bassline, the record blends classic Afro-funk spirit with modern dancefloor precision.
RPR001 Track Preview: Barrio B "Boomah" Available digitally everywhere from Friday April 17th. Worldwide Distribution by Kudos Distribution, UK.
