Get yourselves ready for Rhythm Club, a place for us to get together, share some swingin' tunes, snacks and some time on the social dancefloor! This time however, we have something super special lined up which I know a number of folks have been waiting for!
Nathalie Gregory and Richard Garlick will be teaching a series of progressive Balboa workshops on the Saturday afternoon to take you from fresh to fancy!

The workshops are designed to build on each other, so despite the level increasing over the course of the day, from open-advanced, the only pre-requisite we have is that you are already familiar with a beginner level of balboa and are comfortable with closed hold as we will not be starting from absolute scratch, and the pacing of the class may be quicker than standard classes so we can give you as much content as we can to take away and practise đ
Exact times are still to be confirmed, but workshops are 1 hour each, $20 per workshop or $50 for all three, and your entry to the social is free with any workshop ticket purchase! Registration details to come!
The workshop descriptions are as follows:
- Purely pure bal -
In this first workshop, weâll be covering the nitty gritty of working towards fantastic basics in our balboa, refining movement, connection and technique to be able to make the most of dancing and improvising in closed hold, and turning up the tempo while keeping our cool!
- The outs and ins of it all -
Next up weâll be progressing to bal-swing fundamentals, working with the out-and-in shape and technique as a base for some of the cool things you can do with it, some that might be familiar and some new shapes too!
- Fun and fancy! -
The last workshop of the afternoon will build on the dayâs content to work up to fancy sequences and moves you can use to wow your spectators, and have fun on the social floor!
The evening social will be a Hot Rhythm edition, featuring all your favourite balboa dance-friendly tunes which kicks off from 7:30pm. If youâre just wanting to join us in the evening, the entry is $5 like any other regular RC đ
If you're a dancer, there will be a great floor waiting for your moves! If listening and hanging out is more your vibe, that's ok too đ

đżWe'll have a few snacks on hand but feel free to bring something to add to the table to share with everyone!
There is a good amount of street parking, and some parks to the left of the Hall, and a bus stop a stone's throw away.
