Rhythm & Refinement is a curated Black History celebration honoring the deep-rooted connection between Black dance culture and the timeless artistry of Black dandyism.From the syncopated rhythms of African diasporic traditions to social dances that shaped community, resistance, and joy, Black dance has always been a language of expression, survival, and celebration. Paired with this movement is the legacy of Black dandyism—an intentional, sophisticated use of fashion as self-definition, dignity, and cultural pride. From tailored suits and bold silhouettes to expressive details, style becomes a statement of freedom and refinement.
This immersive experience will feature live and curated entertainment, moments of dance, and visual inspiration that honor both rhythm and style. Guests are encouraged to dress with intention, embracing elegance, creativity, and flair.
Food and entertainment are included, creating space for connection, conversation, and celebration in a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere.

Detroit Ballroom will be taught by Anthony & Stephanie Simpson with Ballroom's Extraordinary Gentlemen.
1:30pm - 2:50pm:
Chicago Stepping will be taught by Drew "The Phenom" Alexander with Smoothtivity!

Event highlights:
Dinner buffet that includes vegetarian options.
Dancing: All Styles and levels of dance are welcome.
Entertainment: Tonight, we celebrate our history and culture through dance, fashion, and resilience! The evening will feature local performances, including an excerpt from a theatrical play, a dialogue with a Charlotte resident deeply rooted in dance, art, and culture, and a presentation by a prominent figure in our local dance scene who has fostered a community by sharing diverse dance styles with both young and old generations.
