This is a victory lap for everyone who has overcome life obstacles and to encourage the community to continue taking steps towards their goals. The focus for this event is centered around mental health, substance challenges and the overall wellness of individuals and their loved ones.

This is not your typical 5K event- you will enjoy stunning views of Milwaukee’s Lake Front while jamming out to great music and indulging in free food. Plus, there will be plenty of vendors on site to check out.

Virtual Participants:

We a Flexible schedule in place just for you. You can complete your 5K anytime from Saturday, August 24, 2024 - Saturday, August 31, 2024.

If you are incarcerated, live out of state or just not available to be at Veterans Park on Saturday 08/31 you can still register for Rhythm and Soles 5K! The virtual run/walk offers flexibility and allows you to participate wherever you are. You can choose to participate by yourself, or with your closest family members or friends. Just take a step outside of your doors, head to a nearby track, a nearby park, or even hop on your treadmill and complete a 5K distance.

IN-PERSON WALK / RUN and VIRTUAL PARTICIPATION

In-person participants will receive:

• Race day T-Shirt
• Race Bib
• Free Food and Beverage
• Official walk/run Timing
• Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finisher.
• All other participants will receive a completion medal.
• A day at the lake front
• Kids' Corner (parent / adult must be present at all times)
• Entertainment - DJ and Vendors

Virtual participants will receive:

• Race day T-Shirt
• Racejoy app tracking time and results
• Race Bib
• A completion medal
• Suggested HST Memorial Activities to make your walk/run more meaningful

(All items can be pick-up or mailed after event)

Virtual (incarcerated) participants will receive:

• A completion certificate
• A digital race bib
• Suggested HST activities to make their walk/run memorable

Families / friends will complete the registration form for their incarcerated loved ones. During the permitted virtual walk/run time (which is listed above) the participant will complete their 5K and will notify their families / friends of their completion date and the amount of time it took to finish.

We understand that the participants rec time may be regulated. For that reason, participant may stop and restart at the convenient and allowed times.

After registration families / friends will receive communications from us with suggestions on how their loved one can make this a memorable event.

Once the event day is over and all needed information is received, we will send the person who registered their loved one’s completion certificate and digital race bib.

Water Stations

Temperatures are usually hot and sunny. There will be several water stations on the race course. However, it is very important for all participants to be hydrated. Please feel free to bring your own hydrations along with you.

Healing Start Today provides FREE support groups serving Milwaukee County and surrounding areas. Rhythm and Soles ® is a division of Healing Starts Today providing support for adults and children.

HST was founded in 2016 and includes a professional staff and clinical team of Certified Peer Support Providers, Substance Abuse Counselors and Mental Health Professionals all with lived experience as group facilitators. Healing Starts Today also provides customized education and training for other providers, advocates, educators, and a host of other professionals providing direct services.

There is a serious need for HST services, providing a weekly group for kids, young adults, and adults to share their struggles, to learn and heal with their peers. Our in-person groups are effective, safe, accessible, and available every week. Your participation and support in Rhythm and Soles 5K walk run event will enable Healing Starts Today to continue to offer free support groups, empowering children, teens, and adults to identify unsafe situations, healthy relationships and to build resilience as they heal from any past experiences.
