Original Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) collective Rhombus Sound System are back to Whakatu after their stellar sold out show in 2024 at the Nelson Arts Festival, to perform new material alongside their south pacific musical style with combinations of funk, soul, reggae, electronic dub, wobbly bass, frenetic drum lines and echoed synth; Rhombus are still the masters of their distinctive and unique sound.Sound controllers Thomas and Koa are joined by longtime vocal collaborators Lisa Tomlins and Raashi Malik, with Zimbabwe-born TK Paradza, who features on their heavyweight tune 'Treat You So Right'.
The Rhombus sound system crew will be laying down their original sound, including unreleased exclusive mixes from their award-winning debut album 'BASS PLAYER featuring the iconic singles “Clav Dub”“and Onward (Step it Up)”
“We’re not really tied to any particular genre, we’re just exploring music, and part of that is an appreciation for different kinds of music. We’re not just one thing, we’re exploring and producing what feels right to us. And really, at the end of the day, we’re just trying to keep ourselves entertained and happy doing stuff that we enjoy.”
