On Saturday May 16th follow the Flatbed Cadillac in the Rhody Fest Grand Parade (we will have the final parade entry) for a massive community celebration! As we move from Uptown Port Townsend to Downtown, everyone is invited to join the procession—a tradition we’ve built over the last 13 years in hosting the Cake Picnic — until we arrive together at Memorial Field.
In addition to the the Party Ark, the Rhody Family Reunion will feature performances by marching bands, field games, BYO picnics (yes you can bring your own picnic too!), and family fun!
So what is the Party Ark exactly?
Physically, the Party Ark is a 16-foot cedar boat, handcrafted by local youth through the Community Works Project right here in Jefferson County. The entire community has been invited to help fill this beautiful boat with handmade gifts and pledged experiences—everything from beeswax candles and carved wooden bowls to sailing trips, home-cooked meals, massages, and cords of firewood. All skill levels, all inspirations, all creative contributions are welcome. Our goal is to gather 1,000 unique offerings, each reflecting local creativity, collaboration and generosity.
Why are we doing this?
In a time of cultural and political evolution around the world the Party Ark invites the eclectic and diverse communities of the Olympic Peninsula to celebrate and magnify our shared values of Creativity, Collaboration, and Generosity across ideological and generational divides. We believe that whatever the future brings, we are stronger and more resilient when we work together!
It's also the 250 Year anniversary of our Great Nation and this feels like a critical moment to strengthen the values that we would like to see represented in our communities over the next 250 years.

Sunday May 3rd from 1PM - 5PM at Family Fun Day at Camas Prairie Park
Saturday May 9th from 9AM-2PM at the Port Townsend Farmers Market
Thursday May 14th from 6-8PM we will host a volunteer Amp Up gathering at The Production Alliance Clubhouse at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds; located on the West side of the New Commercial Building.
