Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza and attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank have created a global crisis. The US and UK are risking escalating war in the region by opening up a second front of war and bombing Yemen.
But the West is facing its deepest crisis of legitimacy as millions of people have taken to the streets to call for an end to the massacre. In Britain, our government is responding by ratcheting up Islamophobia and attacking our democratic right to protest their imperialist agenda. Further, the SNP motion for a ceasefire in Westminster has raised fresh questions for socialists over democracy and the British State.
This is why Counterfire is organising Revolution! Scotland – an event which brings together leading activists and writers to analyse Israel's ongoing genocide against the Palestinians, Western imperialism and how we can strengthen the resistance.
