PDCA's December 8 program will discuss the "Atoms for Peace" speech delivered by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower to the UN.
About this Event

The December PDCA First Monday Forum will discuss the "Atoms for Peace" speech that was delivered by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower to the United Nations on December 8, 1953, advocating for the peaceful use of nuclear energy and calling for international cooperation to prevent nuclear war. This speech marked a significant moment in the Cold War, emphasizing the need to repurpose nuclear technology for beneficial purposes rather than military ones.

The event will take place at noon at GWU's Lindner Family Commons (1957 E Street, NW, Room 602, Washington, D.C. 20052) and will also be available via Zoom. For those who arrive before 11:40 a.m., a light lunch will be provided.

The First Monday Forum is co-sponsored by PDCA and its partners the USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership & Policy, the GWU Institute for Public Diplomacy & Global Communication, and the Eisenhower Foundation.
