One room. One shared mission. Accessing large-scale private finance is now the critical enabler for retrofit at scale. Grants have helped start the journey – but if we want to go further, faster, and cheaper, we need more sustainable approaches.

Join us for our January Retrofit Society 2.0 quarterly meeting with a theme on Breaking Silos Between Housing, Energy, and Finance. With a renewed focused on finance, this forum is designed to break siloes and make your ambitious projects happen. We’ll explore practical, scalable finance models, demystify risks, and share real-world solutions that unlock retrofit ambitions and deliver healthier, more sustainable homes.

Expect thought-provoking discussion, expert insights, and peer learning, all wrapped into a dynamic, one-day in-person session.

Agenda Retrofit Society 2.0 Kick-off Event: 14th January

Breaking Silos Between Housing, Energy, and Finance

10:00am - 10:30am Arrival and Networking

10:30am - 10:45am Joining the Dots Between Energy, Finance, and Housing

Retrofit Society 2.0 exists to break down silos within landlords’ own organisations and between the solution providers they work with. In this opening session, our host Jenny Danson will welcome members, make introductions, and set the scene for how landlords can achieve productive cross-departmental working.

10:45am – 11:30am Strategic Collaboration in Action: How Together Housing is Making Their Homes Sustainable, Affordable, and Healthy

The need for large-scale retrofit has highlighted the interconnected nature of housing, finance, and energy strategies. But successfully aligning different teams to deliver sustainable, healthy, and financially viable homes is easier said than done. A fireside chat with one organisation that is rising to the challenge .

11:30am – 12:30pm Heat Zoning and Heat Regulations: The Financial Opportunity

2026 marks a step change for heat networks, with Ofgem regulation coming into force and six new heat zones breaking ground. For social housing providers, this represents both a challenge and an opportunity. This session will begin with a presentation on the financial case for heat networks and the funding mechanisms available, followed by a panel discussion on how landlords can align their strategy with regulation to capture additional value.

12:30pm - 1:10pm Lunch

1:10pm – 1:55pm Why EV Charging Represents the Next Frontier of Profitable Decarbonisation

Installing EV charge points is now a requirement for all new buildings and those undergoing major renovations. For landlords, this presents a valuable opportunity: the chance to create a new revenue stream by selling affordable EV charging to residents and staff. This revenue can, in turn, be reinvested into capital-intensive retrofit projects. In this session, we will explore how asset and finance directors can structure EV charging projects alongside solar and storage installations to create resilient revenue streams and reduce exposure to volatile energy markets.

1:55pm - 2:05pm Break

2:05pm – 2:50pm CPI + 1%: What Rent Convergence Means for Retrofit

From April, landlords are permitted to increase rent by CPI plus 1%, with this settlement agreed for the next 10 years. Such long-term certainty represents a powerful lever to attract private finance - one which several landlords are using to unlock deep retrofits and regeneration schemes. Our speakers will explore how rent convergence can be monetised to increase private finance for projects, de-risk initiatives, improve debt capacity, and maximise resident impact.

2:50pm – 3:00pm Crafting Your Organisation’s Unified Housing, Energy, and Finance Strategy

In this closing session, we will explore how you can incorporate insights from today’s event into your strategy.
