Wexford Retro Movie Club Brings Tim Burton’s Batman Back to the Big ScreenThere’s just something special about seeing a true classic where it belongs — on the big screen — and this April, Wexford Retro Movie Club is giving audiences exactly that with a screening of Batman at Wexford Arts Centre on April 9th.
Before superhero films became the global machine they are today, Batman (1989) changed everything. Tim Burton’s dark, gothic take on Gotham City, Michael Keaton’s surprisingly perfect Bruce Wayne, and Jack Nicholson’s scene-stealing Joker combined to create a film that still feels as bold and stylish today as it did on release. For many, this is the Batman.
The night kicks off with something a little different — a live podcast recording at 7:30pm, where the Wexford Retro Movie Club team will chat all things Batman: favourite moments, behind-the-scenes stories, and why this film still holds such a strong place in cinema history. The audience will be part of it too, so expect a few opinions, debates, and maybe even a few laughs along the way.
Then at 8:00pm, it’s time to dim the lights and head back to Gotham. Whether you’re revisiting it or seeing it for the first time, this is a rare chance to experience Batman the way it was meant to be seen — loud, dark, and on a proper cinema screen.
Wexford Retro Movie Club continues to build a reputation for bringing people together over films that matter, and this is shaping up to be one of those nights that fans won’t want to miss.
