We are always seeking refuge from life’s problems — stress, heartbreak, illness, uncertainty, and the relentless ups and downs of daily life. But the worldly solutions we rely on offer only temporary relief, and before long the next challenge appears.Buddhism offers a reliable and lasting form of protection through the Three Jewels: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. By relying upon the Buddha Jewel — receiving teachings, inspiration, and blessings — and supported by the Sangha Jewel — our spiritual community that encourages and guides us — we learn to turn inward to the real source of refuge: the Dharma realizations we cultivate in our own mind.
Through developing inner peace, reducing our delusions, and nurturing enlightened qualities such as patience, love, compassion, and wisdom, we discover a refuge that brings genuine freedom and deep, enduring happiness.
