About this Event
Rethinking Career: Find the Work You’re Meant For
For many people, work feels heavy.
Something to get through. Something that drains more than it gives.
You might feel bored, frustrated, stuck, or quietly miserable — but also unsure what to do about it. Changing jobs can feel overwhelming. Will it actually make things better? Will it be worth the risk? Will I still feel financially safe?
This evening is not about rushing into big decisions.
It’s about understanding yourself first.
Drawing on the Career Dharma framework, this event offers a different way of looking at work - one based on human nature, psychology, and timeless wisdom. It starts from a simple but often overlooked idea: we are not all nourished by the same things.
In Career Dharma, enrichment is understood as wealth - not only financial, but emotional, creative, intellectual, relational, and spiritual. Each of us is sustained by different kinds of wealth. These are known as our prosperity types.
When our work provides the kinds of prosperity our body and mind actually need, work feels lighter, more meaningful, and more sustainable. When it doesn’t, even a “good” or stable job can slowly drain us.
Through guided reflection and practical exercises, you’ll begin to uncover:
- What genuinely makes you feel fulfilled and energised at work
- The types of prosperity that matter most to you
- Why certain work environments exhaust you - and others don’t
- How greater self-understanding can help you adjust your current role or make wiser choices about future work
This session isn’t about job titles or quick fixes. It’s about awareness - and how knowing what truly nourishes you can change the way you relate to work, without needing to have all the answers yet.
Please note this is one of two careers workshops this month. While they complement each other, each session is designed to be meaningful on its own.
A plant-based dinner and dessert are included in your ticket.
Both hosts are available to support those who wish to continue exploring their career path.
Meet your hosts, Sri Jiva & Chanchala
Since childhood, Sri Jiva has been fascinated by meaning, purpose, and authentic life fulfilment. This, among other things, led him to join a monastery at the age of 19. After years of monastic training, he chose to marry and pursue a career. He felt called to use his monastic experience to help others understand themselves, and to find wisdom, meaning, and purpose in their own lives. Inspired by this calling, he went to university to study counselling. Now, Sri Jiva and his wife live near Wellington, where he works with a small team of counsellors, supporting clients individually and in groups.
Chanchala studied psychology and education and brings a coaching-based approach to career exploration. She supports people to uncover work they love by helping them understand what truly nourishes their nature and psychology. Chanchala’s work is grounded in curiosity, self-trust, and creating careers that feel sustainable and life-giving.
