5000 years ago in Ancient Sumer, Inanna, destined to become Queen of Heaven and Earth, and goddess of love and war, is a playful child who walks along the banks of the Euphrates in fear of her fate - until she rescues a beautiful tree and plants it in her sacred garden. Together they grow... Until... Join Raelene for an evening of music, mirth, story, myth, magic and discover the seeds of the modern world...
Inanna and the Huluppu Tree is a module of the “Restoring Inanna, Restorying Yourself” project, bringing the magnificent opus of 5000-year-old stories and poems of Inanna to a wider audience.
These stories are older than Greek and Roman Mythology, and yet hold resonances of those ancient stories those of the more recent Abrahamic religions. See the world from a completely different perspective!
The amphitheatre at St Pauls (bring a warm jacket just in case) is the perfect venue for such stories. Live performative oral storytelling is a soulful treat, and Raelene invites you into her storytelling with warmth, energy, and authenticity, interspersing the narrative with original music, and sometimes anecdotes.
You will be invited at times to reflect on and discuss (if you wish) the resonances in the story for you.
BRING A WARM JACKET AND DRINKING WATER - if weather is inclement, we can move inside - but the setting under the stars with the beautiful stone structures is fabulous.
