About this Event
Restorative Justice Institute of Oklahoma seeks to heal, restore, and transform relationships with the use of restorative and transformative circles.
Restorative and transformative circles are a technique that builds and restores relationships through equal opportunity sharing and listening. These talking circles proactively build the skills individuals need when conflicts arise because they give every individual the opportunity to speak and be heard.
Restorative Justice Level 1: Circle Keeper Training is the first step in teaching restorative leaders how to be effective circle facilitators.
The restorative justice model centers the person who has experienced the harm by prioritizing their needs and their healing. This is why Circle Keeper Training begins by teaching the importance of inward healing before participants learn the outward skills needed to navigate hard conversations.
“My time spent working with RJIOK began a healing process within my inner self, one I knew I needed but didn’t know how to start. I have become intentionally me and I’m now working on being brave enough to disrupt micro-aggressions and lead in equity the way I’ve always wanted.” – Ginny Ayers, Instructional Mentor for Tulsa Public Schools
