About this Event

REST is Remembrance: Sudanese Film Screening + Mental Health Q&A

Overview

REST is Remembrance is the fourth gathering in REST 2026, a Black History Month series presented by NeuroBloom Mental Health Collective in collaboration with For Real Therapy.

This event centers a Sudanese film screening followed by a facilitated mental health Q&A led by licensed therapists. Together, we will hold space for memory, grief, survival, and the emotional impact of ongoing crisis and displacement.

Remembrance is a form of rest.
Witnessing is a form of care.

This gathering invites participants to:

  • Engage Sudanese storytelling with dignity and intention
  • Reflect on grief, loss, and collective memory
  • Ask mental health questions in a supported, trauma-informed space
  • Practice rest through slowing down and communal presence

The discussion is grounded, accessible, and facilitated with care. You do not need prior knowledge of the film or mental health training to attend.

This event is free and open to the community.

If you’re able, donations directly support Sudanese-led, community-run mutual aid efforts.
For Real Therapy will match every dollar donated, doubling the impact of collective support.

Who This Event Is For
  • Anyone seeking culturally grounded mental health dialogue
  • Community members wanting to learn, reflect, and show up with care

Accessibility & Care

This event is facilitated by licensed mental health professionals and grounded in trauma-informed practice. Content notes will be shared at the start of the screening. Participation in discussion is optional.
