Join us for an open house that gives 6th-12th grade students the opportunity to: -Get research and project help from Library & Archives staff & History Day staff during 1:1 consultations
-Attend mini-lessons on how to conduct research at the Library & Archives
-Attend mini-lessons on various parts of the History Day process, like process papers and annotated bibliographies
-Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Library & Archives at 11:00 & 2:00
-View sample projects from past History Day contests
-Find additional research through online databases, books, and help from librarians & archivists
The 2026 competition theme is Revolution, Reaction, and Reform in History. Explore a list of topic suggestions that can be supported by research at the Library & Archives. The Library & Archives' collection and resources will best support Tennessee and American history topics. If you are interested in a world history topic, please check out the research databases accessible through the Tennessee Electronic Library (TEL).
Students may arrive or leave any time between 9:00 and 3:30. Event registration begins at 9:00.
Project and research consultations begin at 10:00. Mini-lessons begin at 10:00.
Upon arrival, students will sign up for the first available 15-minute consultation spot.
Event staff will provide project and research assistance on a first-come, first-served basis.
Parents and guardians, please be sure your student is chaperoned for the duration of the event.
