About this Event
This event will explore paediatric research in practice, and showcase our collective efforts to build an inclusive, collaborative research culture. It is open to all staff groups involved in paediatric care across the Wessex region who are interested in learning more about research - no prior research experience required.
The event is free to attend, and lunch will be provided.
Whether you’re research-active, research-curious, or simply passionate about improving paediatric care, this event is for you. We would love for you to join us.
What to expect:
- Interactive workshops exploring what research is, how it’s delivered, and how you can get involved
- Insightful talks from patients and families who have participated in research and partnered with researchers
- Rapid-fire poster presentations highlighting current work
- An overview of available research funding opportunities
- A lively Dragon’s Den–style research idea pitch, with feedback from an expert panel
Pitch your idea to an expert panel
Have a question from practice, a problem you would love to solve, or an early-stage research idea?
We invite you to submit a question or early‑stage idea for our Dragon’s Den‑style session. Whether you have a fully formed project concept or just the beginnings of a research question, our panel of ‘Dragons’ will offer constructive feedback on your aims, methodology, feasibility, and potential funding routes.
Please summarise your idea or question in fewer than 200 words and list the key questions you’d like the Dragon panel to help you explore.
Thinking about submitting a poster?
We welcome abstracts from anyone new to research, including QI projects, audits, service evaluations, and early‑stage studies. This is a supportive opportunity to share your work, build confidence, and showcase improvements in practice. We encourage you to get involved!
Abstracts for posters need to be no more than 300 words. A panel will select 5 posters for Rapid Fire Poster Presentation on the day. There will be a prize for the best poster presentation as voted for by the audience.
Abstracts must be submitted by 1st June 2026, we will let you know by 5th June of your abstract has been selected for presentation and for Rapid Fire Poster Presentation.
