This workshop will look at how women should reposition how they communicate their skills and accomplishments internally and externally. In general, women do not like to self-promote yet undervaluing your skills or being too reticent can lead to you being perceived as less strategic and be damaging to your career progression. During the course, we show how you can reposition how you talk about yourself and your work in meetings, pitches and other scenarios that both presents you in your best light but also that is comfortable and authentic.

As well as advice from our expert course leaders, the course will feature a practical exercise, which will showcase how to effectively communicate your key skills. The exercise will encourage and guide participants to talk about what they do and their key accomplishments in a natural and effective manner. All participants will be able to participate in the exercise.

In addition to the interactive component, we would like to showcase a couple of examples of how to reposition and communicate your skills using two volunteers. Please let us know if you would like volunteer when registering or by emailing [email protected].

Capacity of this course is limited to 20 people.

The training will cover the following topics:

• Why it is important for women to change how they talk about their skills

• Recognising barriers to better representing yourself such as imposter syndrome

• Practical tools to build confidence and take a more strategic approach to how you talk about your professional self

• Interactive exercise with case studies

• How to develop an effective personal narrative

• Q&A

Volunteering

The course will include an optional practical exercise during which the course leaders will provide personalised advice for the participants. We require 3 volunteers for this excercise. Please tick the volunteering option when registering if you are interested to take part as a volunteer.

Testemonials

"Just a huge thank you for that session. I could feel a collective sigh of relief that we all recognised a lot of what we needed to change and that it’s given us the confidence to go out portray ourselves differently." Rebecca Gardiner, British Land

"I very much thought the training was both extremely thought provoking, and also very useful in terms of my current situation. It’s always daunting to ‘put yourself out there’, as such, but the coaches and also the participants made me feel very at ease and really provided sound advice for me to use." Helen Finlay, CAIRN plc
