On their debut self-release, The Experiment, the band operates like a sound-and-vision laboratory, digging through the wreckage of modern life to fuse doo-wop vocals and glam rock flash with crunchy indie-pop guitars, cinematic restraint, and surreal lyrical imagery. Cryin Caleb is the “Blues-Punk Prophet of Doom” from up in Maine. He delivers roots–rock’n’roll laced with country and punk through raw, melodic songs built on themes of regret, alienation, love, and existential desperation. His latest Coldheart Vol. 1 roughly swings between gritty twang and tender riffs, proving that armageddon, when carried by big feeling, can still be exhilarating.
