About this Event
What to bring
You are welcome to bring 1 to 3 items to be fixed, but just one will be fixed make sure to be clean, portable items such as:
- Textiles & clothing: ripped seams, missing buttons, small tears, patches
- Small wooden items: wobbly chairs, toys, shelves, frames (repairs only, not restoration)
- Small electrical appliances: kitchen items (no laptops or large equipment)
- Bicycles: simple repairs and maintenance
- Other items: simple fixes like gluing
To keep things fair, it is usually one item per person that will be fix; if there is capacity you may join the queue again with another item.
What to expect
This is a collaborative, community event—not a drop-off service and you will work on your item with volunteer support. Repairs aren't guaranteed; sometimes advice or a professional referral is the best outcome.
Important notes
- Repairs are done by unpaid volunteers who may decline items that are unsafe, too complex, or too time-consuming
- All work is at your own risk; organisers and volunteers aren't liable for damage
- Some electrical items may be refused for safety reasons
- You're responsible for taking your item home
Safety and atmosphere
Safety comes first: please follow all guidance from organisers and fixers about where to sit, when to plug in items, and keeping children away from tools. Everyone is expected to treat volunteers and other visitors with patience and respect, and to avoid putting pressure on fixers to guarantee a result.
Donations
There is no charge for attending and volunteer help is free, but any new parts or special materials needed for your repair that will be needed to buy. Donations on the day are warmly appreciated and help cover missing tools and consumables so that future Repair Cafés can continue.
