The Repair Café: Winter/Spring Mending Workshops
Hosted at the George Chuvalo Neighbourhood Centre, 50 Sousa Mendes St, Toronto
This Winter/Spring, the Repair Café will be hosting a series of hands-on mending workshops for clothing and textiles. Each session will spotlight a different set of repair skills designed to extend the life of garments and reduce waste.
All workshops will take place on the second floor of the GCNC

Saturday, February 21, 2:30-4:30pm✨ Patching and mending
Learn how to repair holes in your clothing. This includes patching jeans for repair and embellishment or mending smaller holes. Hand-sewing approaches will be the focus, including whip stitch, running stitch, blanket stitch and woven mends.
Basic supplies will be provided. Please bring scissors and garments to be repaired.
Saturday, March 21, 1:00-3:00pm
✨ Make a pouch, bag, or cellphone case
Using scrap fabric, participants will learn to sew a customizable pouch, using a sewing machine and snap fasteners.

✨ Drop-In Session
Need help with a textile repair or other sewing, knitting, or crochet projects? Want to learn or refresh your skills? This Saturday drop-in session offers one-on-one assistance for projects on the go, or still to come.
Basic supplies will be provided. Please bring scissors, your project needing repair or attention, and any necessary materials.
