We're delighted to be celebrating one year of RenCAN Hub with a network gathering to showcase the great work going on in Renfrewshire and provide further opportunity to build relationships and learn from one another. What you can expect... a day of interactive workshops, themed panels, offers & needs, good food and lots of networking.
Our jam packed, fun filled schedule is as follows:
9.30am - 10am: Arrival and networking
10am - 10.10am: Brief Introduction from Mike Callaghan, RenCAN Hub Manager
10.15am - 10.45am: Fixed in Renfrewshire: Building a Culture of ReMaking. Community initiatives that promote repairing, sharing and remaking help to create a thrifty culture that builds on Renfrewshire's heritage of manufacturing while treading lightly on our planet's precious resources. We will hear about the great work that is already happening and what more can be done, from Mary O'Brien (Gryffe Repair Cafe), Kelly Espindola (ReMode) and Gemma Elliott (Renfrewshire Council), in conversation with RenCAN Hub's Svenja Meyerricks.
10.45am - 11am: Climate Training for Renfrewshire. Scott Duncan of Sustain the Change will introduce our place-based digital learning platform which aims to empower communities to take community climate action.
11am - 11.45am: Optional Workshops or Networking
-Rhythm from Rubbish - Trash Drumming workshop with Doug Summers from Samba Ya Bamba and Bloco Winnoch
-Climate Training - In this short, interactive workshop, Scott Duncan of Sustain the Change will guide you through a condensed service design session. Together we’ll map ideas, explore simple tools, and uncover how local groups can shape climate action that works for their communities.
- Block Printing Workshop (11am-12.30pm) - Remode will show you how to bring colour to your Tote bags.
11.45am - 12.30pm: Networking Lunch
12.30pm - 1pm: What’s the Deal with Clyde Muirshiel? Our Conservation panel will discuss recent and future rewilding efforts at Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park - the biggest piece of wild land in Scotland that's accessible to over 2 million people, within half an hour. Panelists: Joe Greenlees (Friends of Clyde Muirshiel) Peter Livingstone (Eadha) and Dan Snowdon (RSPB Scotland).
1pm - 1.45pm: Tree Planting Workshop. Lucy Cunningham will help you sow seeds of hope for a better future.
1.45pm - 2pm: Wrap up and thanks
