About this Event
Women composers in the Renaissance and Baroque periods were often prolific composers even though their work was rarely performed for hundreds of years following their deaths. Their output included everything from madrigals to motets to opera to hymns to solo vocal and instrumental works.
Our concert will introduce you to compositions by Maddalena Casulana, Vittoria Aleotti, Sulpitia Lodovica Cesis, Chiara Margarita Cozzolani, Francesca Caccini, Barbara Strozzi, Isabella Leonarda, Elisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, and Anna Bon. All will be performed by talented local vocalists and instrumentalists on period instruments.
