Join Us for Banbury’s Remembrance Day Parade & ServiceThis November, the Banbury community will unite to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We invite you to join us on Remembrance Day for a day of tribute, reflection, and community spirit.
Event Details:
Date: 10th November 2024
Time: 10:00am
Location: Banbury Town Hall, St. Mary's Church, and People's Park
Parade & Military Display
Starting promptly at 10:00am from Banbury Town Hall, the parade will make its way through the town, led by a military marching band, filling the streets with stirring music. Historic military vehicles will accompany the procession, offering a rare opportunity to see a visual tribute to the history of the armed forces.
This is more than just a parade – it’s a living connection to the past, bringing history to life as we pay our respects to the bravery and dedication of all who served.
Memorial Service at St. Mary's Church
Following the parade, a solemn memorial service will take place at St. Mary's Church. This service will allow us all to reflect on the sacrifices made by the fallen and consider the ongoing importance of peace in today’s world. All members of the community are encouraged to attend.
Wreath-Laying Ceremony at People's Park
After the service, we will gather at the Cenotaph in People's Park for a wreath-laying ceremony, a moving and symbolic act of remembrance. Local leaders, veterans, and community members will lay wreaths to honour the brave men and women who gave their lives in service.
Local Art Displays
Complementing the day’s events, there will be works of art from local groups on display. These artworks, inspired by themes of remembrance and hope, offer a modern reflection on the day’s significance and provide a space for personal contemplation.
Why Attend?
Remembrance Day is a key part of our shared history, an opportunity to remember those who have given their lives for our freedom and to support those still serving. Your presence will show solidarity and gratitude with the Banbury community as we come together to honour the memory of our fallen heroes.
We encourage everyone – families, friends, veterans, and newcomers – to join us for this important event.
