Calling all locals to Westwood & Ravensthorpe who want to do something in honour of Remembrance Sunday!We have some Remembrance-themed activities for the local Westwood & Ravensthorpe communities:
- A local student, Adam, has written a brilliant short story from the perspective of a WW1 soldier. He wants to interview veterans, officers, and anyone who knows about the local history of Westwood as a former RAF base. Feel free to bring your photos and memorabilia along if you have any!
- Contribute to a short documentary film about the history of Westwood's RAF base - whether it's telling us about the sightings of the ghost of a former soldier who wanders the streets of Westwood, old family photos, memories of playing in the bunkers... we'd love to hear your stories and memories!
- Make a one-of-a-kind poppy using a variety of methods - felt, seed paper, card, come along and learn some different methods of poppy-making with expert crafter Lore Green. Free and all materials provided.
The Westraven Community Café has lovely hot and cold drinks, snacks, and meals available for purchase.
