About this Event
Michael Glover Smith's acclaimed dramedy RELATIVE, starring Wendy Robie and Francis Guinan, and shot almost entirely in Rogers Park, will have its first Rogers Park screening at the New 400 Theater on Sunday, July 17 at 3:00pm. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the PO Box Collective, a social practice/creative engagement center in Rogers Park with a mission of community programming that is also prominently featured in the film!
The event will begin at 3pm with a brief introduction by PO Box Collective's Salome Chasnoff. The screening will last 97 minutes and be followed by a 20-minute Q&A with writer/director Michael Glover Smith and actress Emily Lape, moderated by critic Don Shanahan.
At 5pm, Smith will lead interested audience members on an (optional) walking tour of some of the film's most prominent Rogers Park locations: First we will make a nine-minute walk from the New 400 to North Newgard to visit the exterior of the film's principal location, a historic Victorian home built by Henry Newgard in the 1890s. At 5:15pm, we will walk 5 minutes to the PO Box Collective at 6900 N. Glenwood Ave. At 5:20pm, we will walk a few doors down to Rogers Park Social at 6920 N. Glenwood to cap the afternoon with a celebratory drink (cash bar).
