RELATIONSHIP & COMMUNICATION IN DOG SPORT
All Day Workshop – Saturday 18th April
📍 Castle Combe
No matter the discipline, no matter the level — if communication isn’t clear and the relationship isn’t purposefully placed at the centre of training, performance will always hit a ceiling.
This workshop is about shifting that focus.
My approach to Dog Sport is built around relational understanding — the ability of dog and handler to truly read one another. Dogs are constantly reading us emotionally, whether we are aware of it or not. When we learn to become intentional, clear and readable to them, we create a shared language.
Training then stops being something we do to the dog, and becomes something we build with the dog.
When the partnership is strong, everything else becomes easier to build.
What we’ll cover
🔹 The Philosophy & PerspectiveWe’ll explore the thinking behind this approach — how to see your dog differently, how to become more aware of what you are communicating, and how to create clarity without conflict.
🔹 Foundations of Relationship in TrainingWe’ll look at how to shift training away from being transactional. Rewards still exist — but they are not the centre. The goal is a dog who looks to you first to communicate, not simply to receive payment. We will work on building that clarity and shared understanding within your existing training.
🔹 Integration into Your SportWhether you train IGP, Obedience, Agility or another discipline, we’ll look at how this relational approach fits practically into your chosen sport.
Who is this for?
* Handlers who want more depth in their partnership
* Competitors who feel their performance has plateaued
* Those who want clarity without conflict
* Anyone who believes relationship should sit at the heart of training
I will cater for all levels and all sports.
Each working spot includes 1-2-1 coaching time where we will:
* Develop clearer communication between you and your dog
* Strengthen your dog’s focus on you as a partner, not just a reward source
* Apply this directly within your sport exercises
This will be a small group workshop to allow quality coaching, discussion and practical application.
Theory. Discussion. Practical work.
Working Spot – £80Spectator Spot – £45
