About Reimagined Stories
The possibilities are endless... enlarging, shrinking, painting, drawing, collaging, making inserts and pop-ups, stencilling and rubber stamping, using photographs, turning it into a new story book, diary, journal, sketchbook, or ideas book. It will become your unique work of art.
As you are not making a book from scratch, you will start off with an existing bound book, however the course will also provide information on different types of books and paper, as well as some principles of bookbinding.
No artistic, literary or crafting experience is needed for this course; over the month you will build up the basic techniques and skills needed to work with confidence and enjoyment. If you would love to do art, but are terrified of blank pages, this is the course you need!
Please note: the course cannot be done on a drop-in basis.
Materials provided
- A selection of books suitable for altering*
- Cutting boards and scalpels
- Pencils, paints, wax paper etc
- Book-binding equipment
*You may wish to bring along a book of your own choosing, but if so, please select a book which is hard-backed, with pages which are sewn, not glued in or spiral bound. To start off with it will be easiest if you choose a book which has a boring front cover!
What you need to provide
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Any art materials you may have and would like to incorporate
If you don’t have any art materials, no worries! See this as an opportunity to try out various mediums, including photos, drawings, symbols, old letters and documents, magazine pages, tickets etc - anything you find interesting and like (or really hate!) will do!
Want some inspiration? We recommend that you look for “altered books” on Pinterest for creative ideas.
