In connection with the current Platform exhibition “Rest and Routine – Duet for Sanatorium and Modern Hospital”, Nikolaj Kunsthal and Institut français du Danemark — on the occasion of CPH:DOX — invite audiences to a screening of “Rehab (From Rehab)” (86 min.). The film will be introduced by the exhibition’s curator, Lawrence Ebelle.
Directed by Louise Lemoine and Ila Bêka (2023), "Rehab (From Rehab)" explores how architecture can become an active agent in physical and mental rehabilitation. Focusing on the relationship between buildings, bodies and universal design, the film proposes new ways of imagining how our shared spaces can be shaped.
Set in Basel, Switzerland, the film centres on the REHAB rehabilitation centre – a hyper-modern building designed by two architectural practices to provide specialised treatment for people with physical and neurological disabilities. Conceived through a holistic approach, the architecture itself forms an integral part of the therapeutic process.
At once deeply personal and highly inspiring, Rehab (From Rehab) offers a compelling vision of how thoughtful architecture and universal design can transform the way we design and inhabit the world.
The introduction will be given by architect and curator Lawrence Ebelle, whose practice operates at the intersection of architecture, scenography and art. Her work is characterised by a strong focus on atmosphere, sensorial experience and spatial perception, often taking a site-specific approach to exploring how spaces influence bodies, behaviour and perception.
The event is part of CPH:DOX and is realized with support from Institut français du Danemark.
