About this Event
We invite you to join us at the Heritage Center to discuss our next book, Wednesday, AUGUST 5
EPITAPH: A NOVEL OF THE O.K. CORRAL by Mary Doria Russell FICTION
This deeply researched historical novel provides a voice to the men and women whose lives were changed by those 30 seconds in Tombstone. Exploring the personal and political pressures leading up to the 1881 shootout, it dismantles the mythology surrounding Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday to uncover nuanced circumstances and complex individuals. The narrative is told through the perspective of a wide cast of characters, including Josie Marcus, Earp’s common law wife who helped craft his heroic legend after his death. It also examines the consequences of the gunfight and the aftermath of the feud.
Our book club provides a relaxed and cozy setting. Each month, we gather to explore and discuss a book with a regional focus. These thoughtfully curated selections of non-fiction and fiction will provide the opportunity to delve into the rich tapestry of our local culture and history.
As an added treat, every month we will feature a new artisanal tea to sample from Ribbons Tea House and sample some retro vinyl from Deadwax Records as we explore engaging books together.
Whether you are an avid reader or just looking for a pleasant way to spend an evening, our book club welcomes everyone. Meetings will be on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM. We look forward to evenings of great books and engaging discussion!
