Join us at the Fire Museum!Learn about fire safety and participate in hands-on activities at the Fire Museum of Maryland.
BUCKET BRIGADE
Duration: 1 hour
Recommended Grades: Pre-K to 3rd
Ringing bells, passing buckets, yelling “Fire!” and having fun are required. Surrounded by gleaming fire engines, students learn about the evolution of
firefighting technology and fire safety. Plenty of hands-on activities. Includes time in the discovery room!
ELECTRICITY LAB
Duration: 1 hour
Recommended Grades: 2nd to 8th
Students will learn how electricity flows through a circuit before building their own working telegraph key. In this lab, children will understand how telegraphs were used to communicate in emergency situations and see the practical applications of that technology in the museum’s working Fire Alarm Office.
VISITING FIREFIGHTER
As a bonus activity, we will hopefully get to meet and talk with a firefighter! This is always dependent upon if the firefighter is needed at the time (emergency calls take precedent).
