CREATIVE CITY CENTRE PRESENTS REGINA WORD UP AT THE ARTESIAN!
We are patiently waiting for the renovations on our new facility to be completed, but until that time, we are presenting our spoken word events at the Artesian on 13th.
We are grateful to the Artesian for welcoming us into their space!

Feature performer:
Cat Abenstein (she/her) is a neuroqueer white settler from oskana kâ-asastêki in Treaty 4. (Regina, SK) Cat’s a spoken word artist and arts administrator where she is witness to the community, reclamation, and power found through stories. Since 2012, she’s taken her work to local, provincial, and national stages and has organized, hosted, and facilitated dozens of spoken word events for multiple organizations. Cat is a multiple-time poetry slam winner and has published poetry, creative nonfiction, and horror fiction. Her poetry has been shortlisted for the 2025 Foster Poetry Prize and will be published with Contemporary Verse 2. Cat is a lyricist and rapper for the experimental hip hop group, None Shall Sleep Tonight and a member of several writing groups. When she’s not consuming books, she’s dreaming about the ways words weave us all together. She lives with her wife and two cats in a house older than all of their ages combined.

Guidelines, Community Agreements, and Consent Statements
At the Creative City Centre we strive for inclusivity and respect in the community both inside and out of our facility, which is why we have compiled the following guidelines to remember both for our events and also in everyday life.
• We encourage respecting the way folks self-identify, without assuming gender, sexuality, orientation, religion, or ability.
• We understand that at times folks may need to leave or engage in other methods of self-care, and that’s okay.
• We encourage language that promotes inclusivity, education, and awareness and dislike all forms of explicit ignorance including, but not limited to, hate speech, racism, homophobia, transphobia, and classism.
• We encourage the culture of consent meaning we respect people’s physical, verbal, and emotional boundaries. This means respecting that some people might not want to be hugged and if you want to engage physically in any way with a person it is important to ask permission before doing so.
