About this Event
Join artist and experimental pop musician Rieko Whitfield to celebrate the launch of her debut EP “Regenesis” with a live performance, music video screening, artist talk, and DJ set by Luca Eck
Japanese-American Rieko Whitfield’s music from her debut EP “Regenesis” has been making waves in the London art scene. As a recent artist-in-residence at the Tate and graduate of the Royal College of Art, Whitfield has been gaining a cult following through mesmerising live performances equally suited for the Institute of Contemporary Arts and the V&A Museum as queer club haven FOLD.
Soft-core club beats awash with distorted guitar set a textural altar for her ethereal vocals, oscillating between whispered confessions and soaring harmonies to guttural screams. “Regenesis” has been described as “hauntingly beautiful” by BBC Sounds, and “both intimate and colossal” by Sleek Magazine.
“Regenesis” will be released on 14 October through Diasporas Now, a performance art platform co-founded by Whitfield that champions artists of the global majority.
The “Ashes to Ashes” remix by Luca Eck will be released on 27 October.
