Learn from farmers, scientists, funding experts, and more, about the benefits to people and planet of regenerative agriculture!
About this Event

To avoid the increasingly negative effects of climate change, we must tap into the benefits of nature-based solutions. Regenerative agriculture allows farmers to be a part of the solution, but this work must be supported by the public and funded to become streamlined. Urban gardeners and community members can also contribute significantly to carbon sequestration (including composting, incorporating perennial vegetables, and collaborating with urban farms).

Our goal for this forum is to inspire other farmers, students, and community members with leaders, experts, and farmers using organic, restorative, and regenerative techniques to produce food, care for our soil, and naturally sequester carbon as a hopeful solution for climate change. The morning session will be for everyone, while the afternoon session will feature two distinct tracts — one for farmers and one for community members — to provide more specific and in-depth information.

Speakers will discuss carbon sequestration through improved soil health (which can include: compost application, cover cropping, no or low tillage, etc.), the quality of food produced through regenerative practices, the positive effects on land and water quality, how farmers can get financial support for this work, and much more!

This event is happening because of the gracious support of a climate grant from The Sacramento Bee, as well as additional funding from SMUD. Complimentary coffee and small breakfast items will be provided by the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op. There will also be a complimentary farm-to-fork lunch (labels will be provided for dietary restrictions).

Join 350 Sacramento and partners for this special event on Sunday, April 28th, from 10:00 AM to 4:15 PM. Learn about agriculture from the leaders who bring food to our tables and sustain our lives daily!

This event is free so anyone can join the conversation who has an interest! A suggested donation would be greatly appreciated to support the important climate action work being done by 350 Sacramento.
