Please join us for a free personal safety seminar that empowers you with the tips and techniques you need to be alert to dangerous situations, avoid criminal confrontations when you can, and escape them when you cannot.
This free three-hour session empowers individuals to develop a personal safety strategy *before* a crime occurs, focusing on awareness, avoidance, and risk reduction and teach practical, inexpensive, and easy-to-follow crime prevention techniques applicable in daily life.
Topics covered include:
- Understanding criminal motivations and how predators choose victims
- Developing situational awareness and trusting your instincts
- Securing your living space and personal communications
- Techniques for carjacking avoidance and general car safety
- Staying safe in unfamiliar locations
- Addressing digital vulnerabilities
- Discussing tools for protection (like pepper spray) and self-defense training options

About the Instructor: Matt Podowitz is a violent crime survivor who has lived all his life in dangerous cities like Atlanta, Chicago, and Moscow, Russia. Matt is a certified personal safety and crime prevention instructor who has volunteered his time to lead Refuse to be a Victim seminars for over 1,000 people in Atlanta and elsewhere, including for community groups and organizations like Atlanta Pink Pistols.
