About this Event
The topic of refugees, migrants, asylum seekers, exploitation and trafficking is often in the news. These clients have often experienced trauma and loss on 3 different levels: In their country of origin, on the journey to the UK, and within England as well. On top of that, there may be a variety of legal challenges, including age assessments and asylum claims (or appeals).
This training will shed some light on the challenges this clientele might face, specific traumas they might have experienced (including exploitation, trafficking and FGM). We will have a brief look at cultural identity and cultural awareness, using a systemic approach. We will put this in practice with various cases. Lastly we will have the chance of working with a live Dutch "client", giving us a chance to practice with some of the technicalities and challenges of working in a triad.
This training is experiential in nature. This means you will have the chance to discuss and practice with some of the things we will be covering. The training is suitable for both student and qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and hypnotherapists, as well as related professions.
This Training Day can be taken on its own, or as the 8th training day as part of the NCPS Quality Checked 10-day Foundation Diploma - Therapeutic Safety in Trauma. It is taught 100% Online.
