Our take on 20/20/20: train, improvise, and recover in this 60 min class made with professional dancers in mind
About this Event

With our newest class offering, we ask ourselves and those who join us: can we reframe how we train our bodies? How can we create new habits and interrupt old habits for our physical and artistic health?

We will divide our hour together into approximately 20 minutes of physical conditioning, 30 minutes of guided improvisation, and 10 minutes of recovery and rest. Conditioning exercises from the modalities of yoga, pilates, and other mat forms will be used to prepare the body for an adventurous 30 minutes of guided creative exploration, followed by dedicated time to wind down and rest the body.

This class is designed with the professional dancer in mind, but is safe and accessible to anyone with an open and willing mind.

We are piloting this class throughout the spring of 2025: enjoy class at a PAY WHATEVER YOU WANT sliding scale in exchange for some feedback on the class structure!

About the Instructors:

ALEXANDRIA NUNWEILER is a contemporary choreographer, performer, administrator and educator based in Boston, MA. Her movement, described by Dance Informa as “grace with power,” is rooted in history, human experience, and the fine line between darkness and humor. Alexandria earned her B.A. in Dance from Winthrop University where her thesis “Valhallveien” represented the university at the American College Dance Festival Southeast in 2014. She also holds her MSc in International Business from Hult International Business School, studying in both Boston, MA and Shanghai, China. As an educator, Alexandria holds space for intuitive learning and dives deeply into improvisation as a mode of movement understanding. She currently teaches at Creative Steps Dance Studio in Newton, MA and is a recurring guest artist at Dance Theatre of Greenville in South Carolina. Alexandria also holds her 200 RYT which she brings into both the yoga and dance practice spaces as a framework for how she shows up.

KRISTIN WAGNER is a dancer, dance maker and movement educator based in the Greater Boston and Worcester areas. After a decade of leaning on yoga to support her mental and physical well-being as a dancer, Kristin began her yoga teaching journey in 2020, completing her RYT-200 certification with Jenny Lane Yoga. Since that time, Kristin has led practices in community settings, yoga studios, and dance studios for yogis with wide ranging ages and experience levels. As a dancer, Kristin has been performing professionally with a number of Boston-based dance companies and independent choreographers since 2012. She makes work independently and as a part of The Click (@the.click.boston) and Decent Dance (@decentdance), and teaches dance in recreational, competitive, pre-professional and professional settings across Massachusetts. In both dance and yoga, Kristin is guided by the belief that authentic, uncensored movement can be a pathway for personal growth and healing.

About The Click:

Developed in 2021, The Click is a collaborative dance company and creative collective in Greater Boston. Its members are dancers whose primary medium of physical expression is through contemporary dance forms, but who experiment in many modes and genres of creativity. As a collective, The Click’s members are each deeply invested in answering the universally complex question: who am I and what am I doing here?

The Click contributes to the consistent presence of creativity in Boston and beyond in several ways: by educating pre-professional youth dancers, professional adult dancers and the dance-curious of any age; performing original creations several times a year at traditional and non-traditional venues across Massachusetts, New England and beyond; and by investing in the curiosity of those new to dance in Boston or new to dance in general by maintaining an open, inclusive and accessible community.
