About this Event
Join us for a craft workshop where we will create a collaborative tapestry-mural using mirror, collage, fabric and paint. This will be based on our Queer & Trans South Asian identities and in line with exploring the theme of ‘home’. We will each be making mini identity portraits, based on queering South Asian miniature paintings. These will come together to create a collective tapestry of who we are, how we want to be seen, and how we share this with each other, for us and by us. When someone else looks at your mirror portrait they will also see themselves within what you have created, sharing and creating synergies between all of the identities that exist within our community.
The workshop will be held at Swiss Cottage Gallery as part of Dhaga’s You Can Sit With Us exhibition. This will be in a Queer & Trans South Asian space that is expressive, creative and always care-centred. The tapestry will become part of the exhibition.
No experience of craft is required and all materials will be provided.
