Join us for discussions around "Performance in a Pandemic" (Routledge, 2021).
About this Event

(Routledge, 2021) edited by Laura Bissell and Lucy Weir attempted to capture the first flurry of creative activity and innovation from artists, performers, curators and creative practitioners in March 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic caused the world to pause and theatres and venues to close. This hybrid event four years since the initial lockdown brings authors together to reflect on their initial responses, what has happened since, and to consider the long-term impact of the pandemic on live performance practices in a range of places and contexts.

Contributors from Iceland, England, US, Mexico and various parts of Scotland will join the editors and authors in person for the live event in Edinburgh, including: Laura Bissell, Lucy Weir, Shona Macnaughton, Lito Tsitsou, Chris Elsden, Marc Silberschatz, Tamsin Hong, David Gutiérrez Castañeda, Denise Espírito Santo, Judit Bodor, Kate Craddock, Gudrun Soley Sigurdardottir, Rachel Clive, Mark Jeffrey, Judd Morrissey, Ava Avnisan and Rebecca Stancliffe.

The event will be followed by a drinks reception.

This is a hybrid event: please register to attend in-person at IASH, or for online attendance via Zoom Webinar; the Zoom link will be circulated on the day of the event. This is a free event, which means we overbook in-person tickets to allow for no-shows and to avoid empty seats. While we generally do not have to turn people away, this does mean we cannot guarantee everyone a place. Admission in-person is on a first come, first served basis.

Accessibility:

This event will take place at IASH, 2 Hope Park Square, Edinburgh, EH8 9NW, and also online. Please see a map here: https://www.iash.ed.ac.uk/location

For online attendees, automated captioning will be activated throughout.
