Reels at RISE — a new community film initiative by RISE Chattanooga dedicated to celebrating Black stories, culture, music, creativity, and storytelling through the power of film.
More than just movie screenings, Reels at RISE is designed to create shared cultural experiences that bring people together through conversation, nostalgia, inspiration, and community connection. From iconic classics to groundbreaking contemporary works, the series will spotlight films that reflect the richness, brilliance, struggles, imagination, and joy of Black life and artistic expression.
The first installment of the series will take place on Friday, June 26th, featuring the legendary film The Wiz in celebration of Black Music Month. This special evening will honor the lasting impact of Black music, performance, and storytelling while creating space for the community to gather, reflect, sing along, and experience a timeless cultural classic together.
Reels at RISE continues RISE Chattanooga’s commitment to using arts and culture as a tool for community engagement, cultural preservation, and creative expression — creating experiences that are accessible, meaningful, and rooted in the voices and stories of the community.
