About this Event
Join Reels & Roots for an in-person screening of the short documentary Delivering While Black, followed by a panel discussion and community dialogue.
In the United States, Black birthing people experience significantly worse maternal and infant outcomes than their White counterparts. Set in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Delivering While Black examines the systemic racism and barriers in healthcare that contribute to this crisis, highlighting the urgent need for birth justice and equitable care.
This event is presented in partnership with CHAMP (Consultations for Healthcare Providers in Addiction, Mental Health, and Perinatal Psychiatry), a statewide program that connects Indiana healthcare providers with psychiatric consultation, referral resources and educational support.
Following the screening, attendees will engage in a conversation with experts and community leaders about maternal health, systemic inequities and solutions for improving outcomes for Black mothers and families.
