About this Event

7pm | Wed 6th May | The Fumbally Stables

Join Ireland's top alternative history podcast hosts Kevin & Jason (Shite Talk: An Irish History Podcast) at The Fumbally Stables for an immersive journey into the heart of the Irish Free State. Part of the Culture Date with Dublin 8 festival, "Reeling in the Years: 1926" is a deep dive into the lives, the drama, and the data of a century ago.

In 1926, the first census of the independent Irish State was taken, capturing a unique , raw snapshot of post-independence life. We aren't just looking at the numbers - we’re bringing them to life. With a special guest speaker from the National Archives.

What to Expect:

  • Be greeted at the door by actors straight out of the 1920s, ready to welcome you into the new Republic.
  • Live musicians playing the popular tunes and folk songs that filled Dublin’s streets and parlours in 1926.
  • Your ticket includes samples of food and drink popular in the era - expect a true taste of 1920s Dublin.
  • A mix of podcast-style storytelling and expert insight into the lives recorded in the census.

Don’t miss this night of history and heritage in the heart of the Liberties.
