Our friends from NMDGF will be on-site providing guidance and expert instruction to help you master the basics and fish with confidence.
You'll walk away knowing how to:
✅ Tie the Improved Clinch Knot
✅ Open, string, and close a closed-face reel
✅ Attach a reel and rig your rod like a pro
✅ Bait a hook and add tackle
✅ Carry and cast safely like you've done it your whole life
This event is part of Nuestra Tierra's commitment to breaking down barriers and ensuring every New Mexican has the knowledge, mentorship, and confidence to access our public lands and waters.
No gear? No problem. No experience? Even better. Come have fun and learn in community!
Be sure to dress comfortably, wear a hat/sunglasses, bring a refillable water bottle, and tell a friend or two!
ABOUT NUESTRA TIERRA
Our mission is simple yet transformative: ensure historically and deliberately excluded communities have access to the outdoors, and that their history, values, and voices are authentically reflected in public land and water decisions. Guided by values of community-rootedness, equity and justice, and leadership development, we have built a model where those most impacted by environmental injustice lead the way locally and nationally.
In just five years, Nuestra Tierra Conservation Project (Nuestra Tierra) has grown from a grassroots idea into a nationally recognized leader in community-driven conservation. Founded by friends and organizers who saw that access to nature was too often denied to frontline communities, Nuestra Tierra has redefined what conservation means: not just protecting landscapes, but protecting legacies.
