About this Event
The Centre for Advanced Research on Mental Health and Society will host a free special film screening, Reel Talk Film Screening: Mental Health in Focus, on Tuesday November 4, 2025 at 7:00pm, featuring original works from Ciné-Psych with reflective panel discussions. Three short films will be shown, each followed by a unique panel discussion.
Doors open at 6:30 pm, as we encourage guests to arrive earlier to secure seating and complimentary snacks and benverages. The film screening will begin at 7:00 pm in the Westdale Theatre (Hamilton, ON).
The Reel Talk Film Screening showcases three thought-provoking short films that explore themes of the lived experience of psychosis, medically assisted death (MAID Canada), and the risks of dehumanization in mental healthcare systems. Each piece offers a unique lens into the complexities of mental health, informed by lived experience. This event is designed to spark critical reflection and dialogue with panel members from both Ciné-Psych and mental health researchers.
Please note: these films include sensitive content related to mental health challenges, suffering, and psychiatric care, which may be distressing for some viewers.
