About this Event
The Banshees of Inisherin
On a small island off the coast of Ireland, where the grass is green and the silence is broken only by the distant echo of a civil war, a man is told he is dull. This is no small thing. For Pádraic, a man whose greatest joy was his friend and his pint at two o’clock, it is the end of the world.
So begins a feud of magnificent and terrible proportions. When Colm, the friend, decides he would rather be remembered for his music than for his companionship, he delivers an ultimatum: leave me be or I will cut off a finger for every word you speak. It is a story of a friendship broken and the quiet, devastating violence that rushes in to fill the void. It is about the things we will maim in ourselves to be free of the things we no longer love.
A film of haunting beauty and savage wit, The Banshees of Inisherin will break your heart and then make you laugh at the sheer, stubborn folly of it all.
