Want to time travel? Join us as we hike through Oakland’s best kept secret, Redwood Regional Park!Professional guides. Beautiful trails. A fun group to hike with.
This 8-mile loop takes place at Redwood Regional Park in the Oakland hills. This 1,830 acre park possesses the unique ability to really make you feel like you’re out there! You may be only just over the hill from downtown Oakland, but Redwood Regional Park feels like it’s in a different world. Who would think that 150 foot tall coastal redwoods and trout streams live in Oakland? They do, and we are going to check them out. The original redwoods here were so large that they were used as navigational aids for ships entering the Golden Gate! Those trees were all cut down by the 1860s, but second and third growth forests exist today. Besides the secluded nature of the park, hiking this 8-mile loop also offers impressive views of Mount Diablo to the east, and fantastic views of the East Bay and the San Francisco skyline to the west.
