About this Event
This is a two night workshop over two consecutive Mondays, 2nd & 9th February, 7 -9.15pm, in Marchmont, Edinburgh, exploring the technique of reduction linocut printmaking, to create a two colour print.
2nd Feb (Week 1): We will each plan and create our own original two colour design and cut the first layer of the design into a traditional lino block. We will then create a print registration template, ink up our blocks and print the first layer of the print in our first colour, ready for Part 2 next week!
NB Photo reference images will be provided for this class but you can alternatively bring your own photos/sketches to translate into a print design if you prefer - I can help you choose the best one. Landscapes or images of wildlife or birds usually work well for this technique, but anything is possible! We will be working on an A5 piece of lino nothing too complicated or detailed would be best.
9th Feb (Week 2): In this class we will do some further cutting on the lino block to create a second layer of the design, then print it in a second colour (black), on top of the first printed colour layer, to create the final image! In weeks 1 & 2 we will also experiment with printing on to coloured papers, and using an alternative ink colour for the first or second layer (depending on time).
Maximum 10 students per class. Tea/Coffee and biscuits provided.
