About this Event

Let’s Engage

Join your neighbors, friends, community stakeholders and allies for a gathering to discuss the scope, the impact and the future of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal (BMT) project and our beloved community.

You may or may not be aware of the proposed re-development of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal. This 122 acre property running from Atlantic Avenue to Wolcott Street is currently owned and operated by the Port Authority. It is soon to be sold to New York City, and will be run by the office of the NYC Economic Development Corporation (EDC.)

This redevelopment will transform our community for generations to come. The process must be informed by community voices invested in its history and our future. The massive project also encompasses one of the last working waterfronts in NYC of its size. We’re excited to gather with you to share information, discuss proposed platforms and work together to ensure that our neighborhood voices are integrated into, and remain integral to the project. We invite all committees, groups, organizations, individuals, and concerned stakeholders who have already been working on this issue separately, to come together.

We need and welcome your insights, awareness and participation. In the EDC’s absence of a true community led visioning process so far, the burden of organizing and coalescing our collective voice has fallen on all of us. We all need to participate and engage with each other to create the vision for the future of Red Hook, for Red Hook.

We value all opinions, passions and strategies so that this community, can rise to meet this moment in time - together.

Monday, February 3rd, 6:30 PM at PS15

Organized by Community Members: Brandon Holley, Maria Nieto, Nico Kean and Victoria Alexander
