Whether you are a student, a local resident, or a disaster management enthusiast, the American Red Cross Mega Shelter Exercise and Preparedness Expo offers a unique, hands-on look at how our community responds to major disasters.

Join us for an immersive afternoon where we simulate the rapid activation of a large-scale emergency shelter. This event coincides with the Great ShakeOut, serving as a live demonstration of our mass care abilities right here in Utah.

This is more than just a demonstration. This event is designed as a fully functional simulation of a Red Cross shelter environment during a major seismic event. You will see firsthand how our teams manage dormitory setups, mass feeding, and the logistical demands of a disaster response

Just as we do in a real world shelter environment, free food will be provided to attendees as part of our mass feeding simulation.

This expo focuses on community mobilization by showcasing how the Red Cross works with vital community partners. These organizations will have dedicated booths set up where you can learn about their specific roles and how they support the community during a crisis. In addition to these partners, you can visit booths for various Red Cross lines of service to learn about our Home Fire Campaign, Blood Services, and support for the Armed Forces.

Throughout the day, we will also offer free educational classes teaching essential lifesaving skills and disaster preparedness to help keep your family safe. These sessions are designed to empower you with the knowledge needed to handle various emergencies.
