The Red Bluff Fire Department has acquired a new training tower, with help from The McConnell Fund of Community Foundation of the North State $50,000 grant, Masonic Lodge $10,000 Grant and other miscellaneous donations and the sale of some fire department assets. It will not only be used for training by Red Bluff Fire personnel, but also made available to other local fire departments as well. Currently this is the only such tower in Northern California, and only the second one in the entire state. The tower has six floors, stands 50 feet tall, and is designed for commercial and residential scenarios, including roof props for ventilation, stairwell, balcony and below grade rescue props, including numerous anchor points for rope rescue work. The facility is situated with plenty of space for training with ladders both on the ground and using aerial ladder trucks. Red Bluff expects to host many classes with the new tower that has filled a huge gap in existing training facilities.
There is a community celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony planned for November 3rd at 10:00 am with representatives from the City, donors as well as the Chamber of Commerce. The training tower where the ceremony will take place is located at the Corp Yard at 1055 Kimball Rd, just west of the Red Bluff Community Center across from the Salisbury High School campus.
